The adult community theater program popular in the area decades ago returns this coming weekend with A.R. Burney's play The Dining Room. A cast of your neighbors and friends takes to the Music Hall stage in this 1981 play by A.R. Gurney, an in-depth look into the lives of a vanishing species: the upper-middle-class WASP.
The play consists of 18 vignettes, all taking place in a single dining room, which provide a slice-of-life view of many different families. The scenes are funny and touching and uncomfortable, as Gurney seems to grapple with every emotion of domestic life.
The Dining Room is a delightful, fast-paced show that has something for everyone. No matter who you are, at some point you will: feel great about yourself, question your choices, be moved to empathy, and have a good laugh.
The Dining Room will also be presented at 7 PM on Saturday the 7th and at 2 PM on Sunday the 8th.
