I'll be facilitating a community conversation, called a "focus group." It's a chance to share your thoughts to help shape our schools' future.
HOW WILL THIS WORK?
You'll have a chance to read our draft "core beliefs" and ask questions. You can find them here, and I'll have copies on Tuesday. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1EoC9u9V9-9y7LZeMkoaZAK8yomerF706/view
You'll let us know what you like, and what's missing. You'll tell us what you think is already going well in our schools, related to these beliefs. Finally we'll talk about what our schools would look like if we fully achieved these core beliefs, and what it would take to get there.

WHY THIS IS IMPORTANT
Big changes - including fewer kids in our schools, and less federal funding - mean that our school district has hard decisions ahead.
The district needs to hear from the community - families, students, people without kids in school, teachers, everyone! - to understand WHAT IS MOST IMPORTANT to keep and grow, even as we navigate change.
HOW WE GOT HERE AND WHAT'S NEXT
I'm part of a strategic planning committee that is helping gather input from all corners of our five-town school district community, for a strategic planning process that will shape the future of our schools.
This spring and summer we heard from hundreds of our WCUUSD neighbors about what we want for our kids and our schools, through community conversations and a community survey. We used this input to draft Core Beliefs that will guide our school district's strategic planning process now and in the years ahead.
We are currently hosting multiple focus groups across our five towns and in all our schools to get feedback on the Core Belief, learn more about what is already going well in our schools, and clarify what would be needed to make these beliefs a reality.
We will need to hear from you again as we help develop specific goals that will guide the district's decisions and actions in future years. It's crucial that these are in line with our collective vision, values and beliefs, and there will be opportunities for community feedback along the way.
