The Cabot Community Contra Dance on Friday, October 13 will feature the delightful calling of Alex Cumming, who is originally from England, and has a wealth of experience in teaching and leading groups. Alex will teach both playful English "ceilidh" dances and simple New England style contra dances. He's also the Artistic Director of Revels North, and devoted to combining tradition with inclusion in all he does!
We are excited to announce that the dance will return to the Willey Building (Cabot Town Hall, 3084 Main St), which is celebrating its 100th birthday! The dance is 7:30-10pm, with a short intro session for new folks at 7:15. Lively music is provided by a a great group of local musicians--feel free to just come and listen if you like!
Everyone is welcome, and anyone can dance with anyone (Alex teaches without reference to gender), generally changing partners with each dance. You can come alone, or with a friend or your family! All dances are taught, but if you've never been to a dance, you can come to the 7:15 session, when we'll practice a few basics, and then we'll build upon what you learn throughout the evening.
Admission is on a sliding scale, $5-10; pay what you can! Water and cups will be provided, or you can bring your water bottle. Masks are welcomed but not required, and we'll have the large windows open for ventilation.
Hope to see you at the dance!
