This is a two-day workshop is for people of all levels of bodywork experience, for professionals and laypeople alike.
It will feature hands-on instruction in the fundamental hand techniques of this ancient system of manual therapy, discussions on basic Chinese medical theory, and some of the essential physical and energetic conditioning necessary to practice tuina safely and effectively. Students will leave the class with some basic tuina protocols to practice, and a 30-minute qigong routine that can be done at home.
The material covered this weekend will focus on tuina for spinal health, and tuina for the shoulders, neck, and upper extremities.
Tuina is a Chinese style of manual therapy and medical massage that is over 2000 years old, using the same theoretical framework of channels and vessels that is the basis for acupuncture. When employed in treatment, tuina can be highly effective at treating a wide range of conditions, from musculoskeletal pain, to digestive disorders, to stress and sleep disorders.
Taught by Stefan Grace, LAc, who has over fifteen years of experience training, practicing, and teaching his lineage of tuina, called Jin Shou Tuina (Golden Hands Tuina). He lives and practices Chinese medicine in Brattleboro, VT, and he uses tuina daily in his medical practice.
