Dear East Montpelier Community,
Greetings from the Washington Central School Board. At last week's meeting, we were excited to be joined by our newly appointed members, Amelia Mendes Contrada and Zachary Sullivan from East Montpelier, and Kealy Sloan from Berlin. You can find contact information for all school board members here: https://www.wcsu32.org/domain/145
Somehow, it's already time to begin work on the budget for our 2024-25 school year. As first steps, the board approved a timeline and set of parameters for the process. We will conduct (and receive) a training in district budgeting on October 18 and we will host an initial community forum regarding the budget on November 1. In the coming weeks, we will post more details about this year's process including the opportunities to participate and share your perspective.
Our district is making steady progress in developing a strategic plan and we expect to conclude in early 2024. At last week's meeting, the board participated in a focus group discussion of draft core beliefs generated in the first phase of our planning process. For more information about strategic planning and ways to participate, visit our community hub page: https://communityhub.thoughtexchange.com/wcsu32/project/strategic-planning/
After robust deliberations, the board approved the creation of a Director of Human Resources position for our district. We considered a variety of benefits and concerns and ultimately concluded that this is an important investment given our needs in administering a 350+ person workforce.
The board offers our genuine appreciation to our students, families, faculty and staff, administrators and community members. Thank you for supporting our schools! Please see Special Invitation and RSVP link.
Respectfully,
Amelia, Zach and Flor
