This is your deeply relaxing yoga practice. It is a receptive practice, not an active practice.
In Restorative Yoga, poses are held between five and fifteen minutes (sometimes longer). During this deeply relaxing time, you are supported by blankets, blocks, or bolsters (pillows). You enter into a state of relaxation which activates the parasympathetic nervous system (rest and digest). This is when you can start to "let go" of those deeply held patterns in your body and find a state of balance that allows your body to heal.
Most importantly Restorative Yoga helps alleviate symptoms of chronic stress and is complimentary to a more active yoga practice.
