Help us celebrate the 100th birthday of the Willey Building - a resilient building in a resilient community!
From the pandemic to the terrible floods in July, we have all been through a lot lately. We deserve a break and to have some fun. It just so happens we were going to have this party back in October of 2020. It's time to give it another try!
The Willey Building Committee is raising money to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Willey Building. Since 1920 the Willey Building has been the beating heart of our Village, housing the town offices, the library, and the auditorium as an invaluable community resource where countless meetings, concerts, dances and weddings have occurred over the years.
This Celebration is an opportunity to honor of the history of our most beloved building and to recognize how it connects us as a community. Over many decades, the Willey Building has been a constant in a sea of change. Generations have come and departed yet the Willey Building has stood fast in service to us all. At the dawn of its next century, we are taking the opportunity to show appreciation and further the legacy created by Charles A. Willey and the Ladies of the Judith Lyford Woman's Club so many years ago.
The date of the celebration is Saturday, October 14th. We are hoping to raise $6,000 to cover the costs of the event. If by good fortune we raise more than our goal, the funds will go directly toward making much needed updates in the facilities. Our budget will cover:
-The Memorial Bench, made of granite with an inscription installed in front of the Willey Building.
-concert and dance by Miss Maybell and the Jazz Age Artistes
-posters and marketing
-exhibit materials
-afternoon entertainment & activities
-food and snacks
