Get out and Explore Essex September 30th through October 7th! This year's festival introduces a new Passport Week featuring local specials, discounts, open house events, and more at Essex stores, restaurants, businesses, and organizations all week. Collect stickers for your passport and earn chances at thousands of dollars worth of prizes donated by Essex businesses! Your week of exploring is followed by Community Day on October 7th from 10am to 4pm at Foster Road Park with music by Ryan Sweezey and Sky Blue Boys, Salsa dancing, Alyx the Magician, kids carnival, face-painting, horse-drawn wagon rides, farm exhibit with cows, mini golf, and Touch-a-Truck with vehicles from Vermont Army National Guard, Essex Rescue, and the Essex Police, Fire, and Public Works Departments. You'll also find 50+ vendors at our Food Truck Alley and craft/organization/farmer booths. Drawings for the Giveaway EXPLORaganza will begin at 3pm. Rain location is the Essex Middle School. There are contests! Try your hand at the Pie Baking or Youth Cookie Baking contests! Cooking isn't your thing? Maybe the Amateur Photo Contest is! Explore Essex Information Booths will be set up at the Oktoberfest held hosted by Black Flannel at 21 Essex Way from 2pm to 8pm on Sept. 30; during the Essex Fall Soccer games at the Tree Farm Recreational Facility, 189 Old Colchester Rd. from 8am to 12pm on Sept. 30; and at Community Day held at Foster Road Park, 60 Foster Rd. from 10am to 4pm on Oct. 7. Information Booths will have printed passports, event schedules, contest registration forms, and raffle tickets for purchase to support festival activities. You can purchase raffle tickets for a chance to win a 24 x 30 painting of Indian Brook, a Bash Badge from Smuggler's Notch, or half of ticket proceeds in our 50/50 Raffle. Raffle tickets are also available at the Town Offices and Essex Parks and Recreation Office at 81 Main St. Stop in and get yours, today!
