I am a native Vermonter, born in Rutland City, Vermont. Graduated from Rutland High School in 1985. 2x a cancer survivor from 2018 and 2020. In remission now. I am an encephalitis survivor from 3 years old. My 1st tbi. Was in a coma. People prayed. Woke up. People prayed again. Learned how to walk and talk again. Got tired before others and had a bad sense of smell. Got A's & B's easily except for math in school.

When an adult was in 4 abusive marriages. Had concussions and a head injury. After that was diagnosed with aphasia. Had years of seizures, treated with Topamax. They stopped. I don't know why. I have a history of TIA. Transient Ischemic Attacks. I have been homeless more than once, partly because of the head trauma issues and lack of funds or ability to work and support myself. Over time, my domestic violence-related head trauma symptoms were better, but I never became "normal". I gained coping strategies and was able to deal with things better. I got an Associates Degree in Liberal Arts from the Community College of Vermont. Kept attending online classes at another university.

But in 2018 I was diagnosed with stage 3 invasive breast cancer and I was found to have the brca2 cancer gene mutation. 2020 I was diagnosed with cancer again. Chemotherapy treatment gives people chemo brain. So then I had that added to my previous tbi. In 2018 I had to medically withdraw from the college class I was in. And I have not returned to college. I have 2 classes left for the Bachelor's Degree in Professional Studies. I can't afford to financially pay for college now. And I don't know if I can pass the 2 classes. 1 requires a science course with a lab.
