The Ripton Community Coffee House returns to Ripton to present a concert by Cliff Eberhardt with Louise Mosrie Coombe on Saturday, September 16 at 7:30 pm.
Cliff Eberhardt is a master of his craft, a legendary singer-songwriter who is known for his intensity and passion. His songs speak of wisdom learned from tough travels, delivered with a soulful voice and tasteful guitar accompaniment. Part of each year he tours in a folk super-group with Patty Larkin, John Gorka, and Christine Lavin. His songs have been covered by Richie Havens, Buffy St. Marie, and Cry, Cry, Cry (Dar Williams, Richard Shindell, and Lucy Kaplansky). Boston's folk radio station WUMB named him one of the top Folk Artists of the past 20 years. His most recent album, "Knew Things," is a collection of original songs, including a few from "The Heal," a play he wrote the music for. The album reached #4 on the Folk Alliance International's Folk DJ Chart.
Louise Mosrie Coombe grew up on a cattle farm in McEwen, Tennessee, and many of her songs are written about the South. She was once described as "William Faulkner with a guitar." She is an award-winning singer-songwriter, taking top honors at such renowned festivals as Kerrville Folk Festival, Wildflower! Festival, Telluride Bluegrass Festival, and even at Vermont's own SolarFest. Her recording "Home" debuted at #1 on the Folk DJ chart in January 2010 and went on to be one of the most played albums that year. Her next album, "Lay It Down," was produced by Eberhardt, and recorded in his home studio. He played several instruments and co-wrote one of the songs. That album was featured on many "Best of the Year" lists.
