Hi friends and neighbors🌸 This is a call for flowers from home gardens/yards- to be preserved and incorporated into a public sculpture on Main Street.
"Anthology" is a 9x11ft archway that will be made out of 2 inch thick UV resistant resin 'stones' bolted into a torched stainless steel frame. Transparent vinyl quilt squares and preserved flowers will be sealed inside, collected from home gardens and farms in and nearby Burlington. This is participatory! First, flower collecting, then, quilting bees. The work will be fabricated mostly this year, and then installed in 2025.
I'll be across the Flynn at the perimeter of city hall park (future sculpture site) from 5-6pm every Thursday for flower drop off through September 28th. Bring me the plants you'd like to see forever preserved in the work! Would love to see you, would be very grateful for the collecting help🌸🥀
I am also very happy to come to your yard/garden if Thursday is inconvenient, or pick plants up from porches etc. Feel free to email to coordinate.
The google drive link below has photos of the prototype for a better idea. You can also check out my website to see the works that led to this project. http://www.lydiakern.com
I'm extremely grateful to be making this work for our community! Would love for you to be a part of it :)
