We have a fairly brief agenda Monday evening with one item on our deliberative agenda:

• CONTINUING WORK ON THE NEIGHBORHOOD CODE – The Neighborhood Code is one of three zoning policies outlined in the 2021 10-point housing plan and aims to identify opportunities for new homes to be created in every neighborhood in ways that reflect the character of various parts of the city. The City received an inaugural Bylaw Modernization grant from the VT Agency of Commerce and Community Development to support this work. The work completed to date by the department and through technical assistance partnerships with AARP-VT are summarized in the Neighborhood Code Character Analysis & Report; this report was the subject of a presentation to the Council in May 2023. The next step in this work is to review proposed zoning changes that introduce new opportunities for neighborhood-scale housing options such as duplex, four-unit buildings, cottage courts, and townhomes. These zoning changes will address current barriers that preclude these housing types. The Planning Department recommends this review be done with a number of key committees and the work of a joint committee would return to the Council in early 2024.

I encourage you to review these and other agenda items at: https://burlingtonvt.portal.civicclerk.com Once there, you can read the agenda and also subscribe to be notified when there are changes to city meetings. Please go to "subscriptions" and sign up to receive up-to-date information on meetings important to you.
As always, I welcome your questions, concerns, and comments, so please be in touch. Your voice matters and I am grateful for your input.

I hope you are having a wonderful weekend.

My best,
Karen
