Looking for something to do this weekend or any weekend? Take a look at the West River Railroad Museum on Cemetery Hill Road in downtown Newfane, VT. Open every weekend noon to 4:00 through Columbus day.
The Museum is housed in the restored Newfane depot built in 1880 and was one of 10 depots on the line. Inside you will find items for sale, photographs, artifacts and a short video (by Glenn Annis) on the history of the railroad.
It doesn't stop there. Outside you will find a handcar which you can operate, and then a short distance away is the water tank building which houses the original water tank used to fill the trains' engines.
Bring your lunch and enjoy.
