If you are interested in learning about the history of Plainfield please join the tour of the village this Saturday, Sept. 9th at 2PM at the Mill Street Park Kiosk across from the stone wall. This is an opportunity to understand how the village began. What was the first building? Did buildings get moved around? What businesses existed? Did you know that steam carriages were built and repaired at the Heartbreak? There was a blacksmith shop that used to hoist oxen up to put shoes on them. One of the oldest buildings, called the Gale Block, was located next the Country Book Shop. It burned to the ground in 1962. How did the town change when the railroad came through town? This is a great learning opportunity for school aged children and families.
