Sep 8 to 10, 2023

Hello all! It's time for the Moosalamoo National Recreation Area Guided hikes!
Below is the schedule for this coming weekend's guided hikes through the MNRA. More details will be provided here and on the Hiking In Vermont facebook page each Tuesday for the hikes scheduled for that week.

Friday - 09/08/2023 - Robert Frost Interpretive Trail - start time 11am
Meet at the Robert Frost parking area in Ripton to do a 1.2-mile (easy) guided hike along the interpretive trail. The hike features poetry and information on Robert Frost, and we will talk briefly on Frosts connection to Vermont and the poetry the state inspired. An optional poetry writing session will occur at the end of the hike; paper and pencils will be provided if you would like to write a short poem inspired by the works of Robert Frost or by the sites on our trail, but feel free to bring your own.

Saturday - 09/09/2023 - Mt. Moosalamoo Hike - start time 10am
Meet at the Moosalamoo campground to complete a 5-mile out-and-back (moderate) hike to see the views at the top of Mt. Moosalamoo. We will discuss the Abenaki origin of the mountains name, as well as the ways in which Indigenous words and namings have impacted the landscape around us

Sunday - 09/10/2023 - Rocky Point Interpretive Trail - start time 11am
Starting at the Silver Lake trail head parking area on Rt. 53, this hike follows the Silver Lake trail and connects to the Rocky Point Interpretive trail following the edge of silver lake. We'll be following the interpretive sign posts along the trail and learning about the ecology and history of Silver Lake and the surrounding area.
