SATURDAY, September 9, 1-3 pm

On Saturday, September 9, talk a walk in the company of trees. Join Ethan Tapper, Chittenden County Forester, for a walk among the trees at the UVM Horticulture Farm and a discussion on the role that trees play in our lives and in the health of our planet. In addition to shade, beauty, wildlife habitat and climate mitigation, forests form natural communities of astonishing complexity and importance. Be prepared for a walk in any weather condition and bring your questions about forests!

This program will be presented outside at the UVM Horticulture Farm, 65 Green Mountain Drive, So. Burlington.

Presenter's bio: Ethan Tapper, Chittenden County Forester for the Vermont Department of Forests, Parks and Recreation since 2016, works with and advises landowners, loggers, foresters, conservation organizations and municipalities on how to understand, manage, and take care of Vermont's forests. A native Vermonter and UVM graduate, he has worked as wilderness guide, horse logger and consulting forester in Vermont, New Hampshire and Maine. As County Forester, he is particularly interested in the role that forests and forest management play in building healthy local and global communities.

This talk is a program of the Friends of the Horticulture Farm, a charitable organization dedicated to supporting the mission of UVM's Horticulture Research and Education Center in South Burlington.
