And if you're curious about the why, here's a little bit from Proprietress, Francesca Bourgault:
I started Windham Movement Apparel in 2016 with a goal of supplying this area with dance, yoga, and circus gear while raising my daughter who was a toddler at the time. The shop has gone from a basement hole at 5 Arch Street to a prominent downtown location at 2 Elliot St to a mobile boutique just before the Pandemic to the lobby of Brattleboro School of Dance. Through all of these shifts and adaptations, I learned that the world of retail is changing and so is my inspiration. My background is in dance, teaching and performing, and supporting performance through technical production. Those loves were never far from my mind and as the past few years waged lasting change, I realized that I have to follow my passion. You can find me designing lights and sounds at the New England Youth Theatre, teaching dance for the Professional Track program at the New England Center for Circus Arts, performing and teaching burlesque as Patty Cake, and producing events as Brattleboro Queer Dance Parties.
Thank you all so very much for making the last 7 years a fruitful whirlwind and a reminder that all is better when in community.
See you around town,
Francesca
