The Milton Historical Society invites you to take a step back in time, as Vermont documentary filmmaker, author, and Burlington native James R. "Jim" Jones shares a colorful program based on his recently published book, Burlington-Winooski-Essex Junction, Vermont: Trolley Wires to Rubber Tires. From the first horse-drawn street railway in 1885 to the electrified trolley eight years later, the street cars of August 1929, and buses that replaced them, this presentation is full of anecdotes, rare photos, maps, and wonderful stories surrounding the area's first public transportation system and its fascinating transformation.
