On Thursday, Aug. 31 from 7-8:30pm, everyone is invited to join a community discussion on crime at the Hardwick Town House. While the recent carjacking incident on Bridgman Hill is the impetus for organizing the meeting, the incident is under police investigation so there will not be any update.
The intent of this meeting is to provide a forum for community members to discuss their concerns about criminal activity in the area, including Hardwick, Walden, Greensboro, Craftsbury. We wish to provide an opportunity for people to constructively express their concerns and questions, gather ideas for how to help each other and for how to help town officials and law enforcement to effectively work toward greater public safety. We invite community members, town officials and law enforcement officials to come together to listen to each other in a respectful, non-confrontational and constructive venue to try to come to greater understanding of what is needed for all sides of the community to work together toward mutual safety and cooperation. This is NOT a bash the police event. It's an opportunity for civil discussion aimed at ideas and solutions, not criticism and blame.
Please bring your questions and ideas to the discussion. We hope for a lively, constructive conversation.
