Ray Hudson lived in an Unangax̂ (Aleut) village in the Aleutian Islands for about 30 years, during which time he was fortunate to work with elders in the preservation of Unangax̂ culture. He studied basketry with a noted weaver for nine years and has published books and articles on Aleutian history and culture. Born in Washington state and now living in Vermont, he continues working with Unangax̂ folks on various projects and often returns to that best place on earth.
