YARD SALE SATURDAY, SEPT 16 BY
BURLINGTON GARDEN CLUB
The Burlington Garden Club is sponsoring a "lollapalooza" of a Yard Sale on Saturday, September 16 from 8am to 2pm at the Faith United Methodist Church at 899 Dorset Street in South Burlington. The proceeds will go to the club's Scholarship Program for outstanding students in the Plant & Soil Science Department of the University of Vermont, as well as other community projects the Club funds.
"Many of our members have donated some stunning items for the sale, including antiques, small appliances, cookware, small pieces of furniture, gorgeous vases, flowerpots and gardening tools, artwork, linens, dishes, lamps, some fabulous jewelry, and much more" reported Club Co-President Linda Lane. The garden club is a nonprofit organization, founded over 100 years ago, with 95 members. The Club supports the community through numerous programs. Members maintain gardens at Wheeler Park, including the Butterfly Garden that attracts pollinators and Grandma & Grandpa's Garden where children learn to plant, maintain, and harvest hundreds of pounds of vegetables that are delivered to the South Burlington Food Shelf. Club members also maintain gardens at Ronald McDonald House and Hope Lodge. Last month garden club members donated (and collected donations of) hundreds of planters and fresh plants, which members planted and drove down to Barre to offer to local businesses which had lost all their potted plants in the flooding and debris.
