Don't Miss This Unique Field Trip! Second Annual Tour of Earthship Home in Putney/Westminster West.
Friday, September 1, 5-6:30pm
On location at 165 Upper Hourglass Road, Putney Vermont 05346
It's such an abundant time of year feel free to bring a snack to share!
John-David Grant and Lisa Moir have been building an Earthship on their 12 acre parcel in Putney for the last 3 years.
Living Earth Action Group and over 30 friends toured this wonderful home-building project last summer. Now we have been invited back to see the progress made by John-David and Lisa, who are doing most of the construction themselves.
Whether you are coming for the first time or are making a return visit, please plan to join us especially if you are interested in seeing firsthand an impressive and unique solution to these challenges: Off- Grid living. Sustainable home systems. Living without a reliance on fossil fuels.
An Earthship uses passive solar, water collection, food production, thermal mass, and recycled materials ... to create a unique self sustaining home. Invented by architect Michael Reynolds in Taos, NM Earthships provide a stable year round temperature inside the home. In addition, there is a south facing attached greenhouse that allows for food production. John attended the Earthship Biotecture internship for a month in Taos and has since worked on a number of builds. Presently, the Putney home is 60% completed with water systems and upcycled bottle walls being built this spring.
Volunteers who want to learn while rolling up their sleeves to help build Earthship are encouraged to contact John/Lisa directly to find out what their needs of the moment are. Call 914-610-8606.
