Calling all actors! Rokeby Museum is seeking actors for a unique production – Spirits of Rokeby: Spectral Rooms. Spirits is a short-form, environmental theater production drawing from historic records of 1850s séances held by the Robinson family in Ferrsiburgh, and other local historic accounts. With attention to historical accuracy, the performance occurs in the same house as the original spirit encounters. Ticket holders receive a short lecture from Museum staff about Spiritualism history in Vermont before entering the historic house for the performance, where actors bring the story to life, and guide the audience with some participatory dramatization. This year's production centers on Victorian mediumship styles.
Performances occur for small groups in timed ticketed slots. The performances are ~30 minutes, with 15 minutes break between; 5-6 performances per night. Performances are the evenings of Saturday 10/21, Friday 10/27 and Saturday, 10/28. Actors receive a money stipend and 2 comped tickets. There will be eight rehearsals, including tech and dress, occurring late September-October. Rehearsals scheduled around actor availability.
Auditions are Saturday, 9/16 at 4:00pm at Rokeby Museum: 4334 Route 7, Ferrisburgh, VT. Contact Tucker Foltz at tfoltz@rokeby.org to reserve a spot. Walk-ins accepted. Contact if interested but can't make auditions.
