Here are the Nature Center Events for this week!

Thursday 08/17

10:30 am – 12:30 pm: Make an Herbarium Journal
Bring your own notebook, use one provided, or make one at the nature center and get started on your very own herbarium journal! Join in on collecting and identifying plants while learning how to preserve them and keep them in your notebooks to use for identifying the plants around you.

1 – 4: What floats your boat?
Think you have what it takes to make the best boat that floats? Come by the nature center and learn about what makes things float in water, and then create your own boat using materials found around the park!

Friday 08/18

10:30 am – 12 pm: Ecosystem Building
Figure out what you'd need to add to a mason jar to create the perfect ecosystem for an animal or insect of choice. Supplies included.

1 - 4: - Lake Chemistry
Complete some water sampling of Lake Dunmore and learn about the importance of turbidity, pH levels, and temperature to having a successful lake ecosystem!

Saturday 08/19

10:30 am – 4 pm: Maple Dendrology/maple syrup tasting
Learn about how to identify maple trees and try some local syrup of different grades!

2 - 4: Natural Crafts
Explore the Nature Center and complete provided crafts that help teach about the natural work around you

Sunday 08/20

10:30 am – 12:30 pm: Maple Dendrology/maple syrup tasting
Learn about how to identify maple trees and try some local syrup of different grades!

1 - 4: Botanical Illustrations
Sit by the lake and practice your art skills by drawing the environment around you and learning about botanical drawing
