Learn to shape animal behavior through games and training plans. Join us to hone your shaping mechanics, and write and implement training plans. After practicing with other participants using the tabletop game, The Portable Operant Research and Teaching Lab (PORTL), you'll have the opportunity to try out your skills with a variety of animals at Training Matters' Lemon's Hope Sanctuary in Brattleboro, Vermont. The animals include mini-horses, sheep, goats, guinea pigs, birds, dogs and cats.
This can be a one- or two-day event. The first day, participants will be introduced to PORTL, which provides an interactive environment for learning about behavior principles and investigating behavioral phenomena. The second day, participants will practice writing training plans, called task analyses among behaviorists, and implementing their plans with chosen sanctuary animals.
