Several people expressed interest in our Solar Open House in July but weren't able to attend. So, we're going to do two more. Here's the info:
Have you been thinking about going solar? With the 30% federal tax credit slated to expire in 2016, and the price of photovoltaic (solar electric) electricity now competitive with utility prices, and the new federal National Climate Assessment yet again pointing out the significant negative impacts of global climate change, now's the time!
Not to mention that there are now financing options that enable you to put no $ down, and pay a fixed amount per month for 15 years that is equal to or less than what you currently pay for electricity per month. I.e., you will pay the same electric bill every month for 15 years while your neighbors' bills rise every year. And at the end of 15 years, your electricity will be free! (Notes: Photovoltaic systems typically last at least 30 years. You will probably need to replace the inverter at some point, but the electricity savings will far outweigh the cost of a new inverter.)
My wife, Barbara, and I are hosting two Solar Open Houses, on August 23 and 24. We'll present a brief overview of our systems (two photovoltaic systems and our solar hot water system) and present some info on solar costs and financing. Then we'll take a brief tour of our systems, which have been operational since 2009, and we'll try to answer any questions you have.
Thanks to those who completed the “Doodle” survey to help us pick dates and times. In an effort to accommodate the most people, we’ll do two sessions:
* Saturday, August 23, from 10:00 am – noon
* Sunday, August 24, from 10:00 am – noon
Please RSVP to stevew831@gmail.com and please feel free to contact me if you have any questions.
