About Patty and Verandah:
Patty Carpenter & Verandah Porche performing all original songs. During the past three pandemic years, the songwriting duo has written over fifty tunes. The two women have been lifelong friends and collaborators. They weave the strands of that long term relationship into new insights and melodies. They will be joined by Draa Hobbs on guitar, Jon Weeks on flute, sax and percussion, and Jeremy Gold on violin.

Verandah and Patty are looking forward to the opportunity to showcase this new material and to get feedback on the songs some of which will be recorded in the coming months. Pete Seeger called Come Over, their last CD, "wonderful."

Verandah writes about their work together:
"In the late 60s, we landed in the sticks a stone's throw from each other.
Dreams, troubles, changes, crops, communards, kids and lovers: music and language saw us through our duet of abundance and loss.
We took a guitar, the kids, and a pencil with an eraser down to the river.
We've carved these songs out of our long friendship. As traveling artists, musician and poet, we have played the hinterlands, listened to stories and savored cadences. Finally, we took the time to write and hone this work. Our songs are deeply collaborative: some of the best music comes from Verandah and the strongest words, from Patty, except when it's the other way around."

Carpenter sings with a number of local bands around New England as well as in New York City. These include Patty and the Cakes, The Patty Carpenter Jazz Band and the Dysfunctional Family Jazz Band (DFJB), an ensemble with four family members that has a compelling Jazz/Americana/Soul/Folk sound. Patty studied jazz at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, with the great Archie Shepp and Max Roach, and was heavily influenced by many great women artists from Joan Baez and Roseanne Cash to Billie Holiday and Carmen McCrae.

Porche has worked as a poet in residence and writing partner in schools and community settings around New England for forty years. Her books include Sudden Eden (Verdant Books), The Body's Symmetry (Harper and Row) and Glancing Off (See Through Books
