Invitation to Ilsley Library Design Ideas Presentation

Over the past two years the Ilsley 100 Project Team has worked with the community to develop a vision for a new library building, to determine the scope of the project, and to select design teams to participate in a design competition. On August 9th, at 6:30 pm at the Town Hall Theater, three design teams will present their conceptual designs for a renovated and expanded Ilsley Public Library (these designs will be on display in the Town Hall Theater starting at 6:00 pm if you would like to arrive early to view them). After the presentations, community members will have an opportunity to ask questions and provide feedback on the designs.

The library is a reflection of our community, and input from our community partners is essential as the Ilsley 100 Project Team evaluates these design concepts and decides which team to move forward with. While childcare is not provided at this event, the library will provide a cart with books and crafts for older children (recommended ages 6+) who attend with their parents. After weighing feedback from the library staff and trustees, an advisory group of architects, and the community, the Project Team will decide which design team to recommend to the Selectboard. This is truly an exciting moment in the project, and one where your input will make a difference! Having said that, we are only at the beginning of the design process, and there will be many future opportunities for community input this fall. It is important to remember that these conceptual designs are far from the final design.

As a reminder, the Project Team held a series of public meetings in November, dedicated to the vision for the new library building. The Team then held two meetings in January to share four possible options for addressing the library's facility needs and fulfilling our vision for a library building. These meetings were all well attended and many community members provided feedback.
