Sign up for the following scheduled events associated with Stream:
Saturday, August 12th 3:00 PM (Rain Date Sunday, August 13th, 3:00 PM)
Warren Realrider will reinvent Allan Kaprow's 1975 work Echo-Logy to be titled Êka'a-logy*. Echo-logy took place in a stream and is essentially a play of actions rather than a performance; no audience or spectator is assumed, and part of the point of the work was a renunciation of the art market and the gallery and museum complex. Reinventing Kaprow's work today reaffirms a pre-existing credibility for experiencing art projects in unusual, non-commercial contexts.
(rain date, Sunday August 13th). Please contact Cindy Smith at smithmcindy@gmail.com if you would like to participate in Êka'a-logy. Space is limited.
Sunday, August 13th 11:00 AM
Sound Collection Walk with Warren Realrider
Oklahoma sound artist Warren Realrider will lead a mobile group listening and sound recording walk near the Stream site during the weekend of Stream: Chapter 6 (Be water my friend).
Participants are encouraged to bring a sound recording device, cell phone or other portable sound recorders recommended, to capture their own unique take on the soundscape of the Stream site. Some general introductory thoughts and sound collection suggestions will be given then people will be encouraged to explore the immediate space of the forest, air, land, and water. Once the event is complete participants can send their recordings to Warren Realrider via email or other preferred internet transfer service, to become part of a larger sound collage that the artist will create after returning to Oklahoma. The movement of sound from the environment of the Stream site in Vermont through recorder mics, cell towers, internet fiber cables, computer hard drives, Oklahoma summer vibes, then back to participants and web listeners of the world will produce a mutual composition reflecting the extensive life of sound, listening, and sharing.
Please meet at 11 AM, Sunday, August 13th Old Cheney Rd. off of Windham Hill Rd. where Old Cheney Rd. meets Kibby Camp Rd. near bridge.
