OUT OF THE GILDED CAGE - PROGRESSIVE LADIES OF THE GILDED AGE
The Bennington Battle Monument opened to the public on August 19, 1891, an era known as the Gilded Age. Phyllis Chapman, as Nellie Bly, a plucky woman reporter who used the publics taste for sensationalism as a route to success, will tell the stories of late 19th century progressive women who broke out of the 'Gilded Cage'.
The presentation is sponsored by the Friends of the Bennington Battle Monument. No admission charge, and it is on a first come first seated basis. Light refreshments and donations are welcome.
