Please join us for the Brookfield Historical Society Ice Cream Social and Marvin Newton Restoration
The Brookfield Historical Society is hosting the annual Helen Daly and Margaret Stone Ice Cream Social at the Marvin Newton House, located on 1133 Ridge Road in Brookfield.
Join our Grand Reopening in celebration after more than two years of extensive restoration work of plaster repair, new historically-themed wallpaper and fresh paint in several rooms. Restoration includes an exciting update to the Jesse Fiske room and Ella Colt photos are on display throughout the house. The grounds are showing the abundance of their flowering glory tendered by area Master Gardeners led by Sid McLam, and the rock wall has been beautifully repaired. Finally we're delighted that music will be provided by Brookfield's own Jennings and McComber. the acoustic duo of Andy and Kara Lake. And there will be ice cream too!
The Marvin Newton House, listed on the National Register of Historic Places, is located at 1131 Ridge Road and is open to the public Sundays during the summer months from 2:00 to 4:00 pm, otherwise by appointment. Donations are gratefully accepted. All are invited - see you on August 13th!
