The Big Buzz 2014 Oct. 7th - 13th!

The 5th annual Big Buzz Chainsaw Carving Festival will held Oct. 7th - 13th, 2014 in Chester Vermont. The Event will be held on the new 7.5 acre Chester Festival Grounds located on Rte 103 next to the American Legion. This is the Columbus Day weekend holiday which is often peak time for leaf color in Vermont. It’s a great time of the year to be in Vermont please consider joining us for this interesting and unique event.

In a short 5 years the Big Buzz has grown from a regional event to attracting Artists from across the US and around the World. This year we pleased to have three Carvers join us from Europe.

Carvers of all abilities are invited to participate the festival. The event is not a contest it’s a Festival were artists share, learn and work together doing their craft. For spectators, Carvers bring finished works that they display for sale like at a craft show plus carve new works at their sties. We recommend people attend a few times during the week to see projects taking shape.

Quick Carves
The Quick Carve Events are a fan favorite. Carvers line up together and create complete works in one hour after which they are auctioned off to the highest bidder. Quick carve events are at 1:30 in the afternoon Friday - Monday.

Fire Sculptures
At dusk Saturday night Oct. 11th standing logs with chainsaw cuts carefully stitched together will be lit on fire creating unique Fire Sculptures. Fire Sculptures are very interesting in that the trees burn and change over a period of hours creating shapes for a moment and then evolving into something different all with the fires flames licking the wood creating colors and smoke.

The Big Buzz is a perfect way to enjoy a Fall day in Vermont. Watching 30 or more chainsaw carvers from as far away as Europe, all creating, with many interesting finished works to see, is really a unique and interesting experience. Many people have already made the The Big Buzz, the Quick Carves and the Fire Sculpture night an annual event.

The event is by donation early in the week. $5 per person $15 for a family Friday- Monday.

A few artists would really benifit from free housing. If you have a room available and don't mind a little sawdust please send an email.
