"The Farm Boy" in Royalton
The Royalton Historical Society, with support from Vermont Law and Graduate School, will be hosting the recent film, "The Farm Boy" on Friday, August 4th as part of the Royalton Old Home Days celebration. The film will be shown at 6:30 in the Chase Center at the law school just a few steps from the Green in South Royalton. The convenient location, with easy parking, is air conditioned and has public restrooms. Refreshments will be provided during the intermission. There will be a small charge to see the movie.
The film, set in Vermont of 1944, is by writer, director and cinematographer George Woodard of Waterbury Center and produced by Joan Brace O'Neal. One of the actors in the film is the late David Ainsworth of Royalton. The two and a half hour black and white film, as summarized by Woodard, is "a love story with action and adventure" where a young Vermont farm boy falls in love and marries. He then enters World War II where he fights in the Ardennes in Belgium at the Battle of the Bulge. It is a story about trust, integrity, and standing behind your word. But the rest of the story, roughly based on the life of George Woodard's parents, is not to be missed and something you will have to come and see. Following the showing the director and producer will be available to answer questions.
