An Intimate Night of Jazz in the Heart of Stowe
The Brass Lantern Inn and Firefly Productions bring you 'Jazz at the Lantern' a genuine, small jazz club style experience, once a month, in Stowe, Vermont . Our August offering is the Marty Fogel Quartet. Reserve a table, order charcuterie or bruschetta and a bottle of wine to enjoy the musicians up close, mingle in the Inn's lounges with comfy couches, or relax on the beautiful back deck, and lawns.
About the Performers
Marty Fogel (saxophones, clarinet, flute) has played and toured internationally as a sideman with major jazz artists, trumpeter Don Cherry and baritone saxophonist Gerry Mulligan. He also spent several years performing and recording with legendary rock artist Lou Reed.
Marty was a cofounder of The Everyman Band, which toured throughout Europe and recorded for ECM Records. He also recorded a CD under his own name entitled, "many bobbing heads at last...." which was released on CMP Records.
Marty will be showcasing selections from his brand-new CD, "Now and Then". Featured with Marty are pianist Tom Cleary, drummer Geza Carr and bassist Jeremy Hill, three of Vermont's finest and busiest jazz players.
The title "Now and Then" refers to the timeline of the CD's all original compositions, written within the recent past to as much as 40 years ago. It is also the title track. The music is swinging and grooving with some elements of open, free playing. All the music is united by the intention to speak with truth and to tell a musical story.
Parking at the Inn is limited, so it is suggested to park at the Shaw's next door.
