The lighthouse is a working light but also a museum operated by the Clinton County Historical Society, open to the public Sunday afternoons in July and August. Exhibits tell the history of the island, the light, and the passage it guides boats through. You can climb up to the lamp room and see the Fresnel lens and the decommissioned steel ladder tower that now hosts nesting Osprey. I go across once each year, weather permitting. At the moment, next Sunday looks excellent. Anyone interested in going with, please get in touch for details.
It's an open water crossing of the broad lake, which takes a couple hours and is weather-dependent. Feel free to ask questions.
