First Payment Due Sept. 15

Because of the late approval of the school budget, the Barre City property tax bills are running a month behind. The state - which sets the education tax rate - requires at least 30 days between the approval of the budget and setting the tax rates. Because the budget wasn't approved until June 30th, the state didn't set the tax rate until August 6th.

The bills will go out in the mail on August 15th. Because of the delay, the City Council re-set the first payment due date for September 15th. The other 3 quarters will be due on their usual dates (November 15th, February 15th and May 15th).
