Experience a Weekend in 1812 at the Lake Champlain Maritime Museum

Travel back 200 years at Lake Champlain Maritime Museum this weekend as historical re-enactors in traditional boats recreate the 1814 British attack on Fort Cassin. Meet the sailors, soldiers, and camp followers. Enjoy demonstrations of maritime skills, presentations of firearms, boat maneuvers, open air cooking, blacksmithing, and more. Battle reenactment daily at 1pm.

Replica vessels with their crews will be coming from Plattsburgh, Port Henry, and Glens Falls, NY, and from Montgomery, Bristol, and the Champlain Islands, VT to participate in maneuvers.

Meet Archaeologist Kevin Crisman, and get a signed copy of his new book, Coffins of the Brave, Lake Shipwrecks of the War of 1812.

Special Exhibit, 1812 - Star Spangled Nation:
On View at LCMM now through September 29
Twenty five dramatic paintings by sixteen of America’s most outstanding marine artists are presented at Lake Champlain Maritime Museum in 1812: Star Spangled Nation. The paintings transport us into three theaters of the War of 1812: the Blue Water of the oceans; the Atlantic coastal waterways; and the Lakes along the border between Canada and the United States including Lake Champlain.
