The Craftsbury Chamber Players perform innovative works old and new on Wednesday, July 19, at 7:30 p.m. at Elley-Long Music Center in Colchester. There will be a brief pre-concert chat at 6:45.
The program opens with César Franck's Sonata in A Major for violin and piano, and is followed by two remarkable string octets: first, "the still, small voice" by Kenji Bunch – a response to Walt Whitman's poem, "Election Day, November 1884" – and then Felix Mendelssohn's Octet in E-Flat Major, op. 2.
Performers are Monica Ohuchi, piano; Katherine Winterstein, Jessica Gehring, Mary Rowell, and Jade Schoolcraft, violins; Kenji Bunch and Matthew Ryan, violas; and Victoria Lin and Frances Rowell, cello.
Tickets are available at the door. Single admission – $25; Students – $10; Children 12 and under – free. Season passes also available. For information, please visit craftsburychamberplayers.org or call 1-800-639-3443.
