We're Going to Keep Filling Trucks!

Dear Neighbors,

Wow! I have never felt more privileged and honored to be a member of this community. Your support has been nothing short of inspirational. In the last 24 hours, you have come together to fill tens of trucks and garages with much-needed supplies and raise thousands of dollars. Big thanks to Lowes, who also stretched your dollars further and provided discounted and donated supplies like dehumidifiers and shop vacs. We are delivering everything from baby formula to box fans, paper towels to pressure washers - and all things in between!

When I talk to community leaders in places like Barre, Johnson, Ludlow, and Montpelier, they are so deeply touched by the outpouring of support. They truly feel your love and care as fellow Vermonters in their time of great need. Thank you.

So, of course, we are going to keep filling trucks, bringing supplies, and asking what the needs on the ground are for as long as we can! Our next stops are Essex Fairgrounds tomorrow (July 14) from 9-11 am and then the UVM Virtue Field for the Vermont Green Football Club game on Sunday (July 16) at 7 pm. We also have satellite drop off locations that will continue to take item donations and financial contributions in Charlotte (Rep. Chea Evans), Shelburne (me, Rep. Jessica Brumsted), Burlington (Rep. Tiff Bluemle), South Burlington (Reps. Emilie Krasnow and Noah Hyman, Sen. Tom Chittenden), and Winooski (Councilor Thomas Renner).

Some of the items we are collecting and purchasing: extension cords, tarps, bleach, microbial spray, rubber gloves, muck boots, primer, gas-operated power washers, dehumidifiers, shop vacs, contractor bags, baby formula, diapers, packaged snacks, and cleaning supplies and equipment. Please make sure they are in new, sealed, or gently used condition. It's also extremely helpful to drop odd-shaped things off in plastic bins and buckets for ease of transportation, and also for use onsite in the clean-up effort.

If you would like to help by driving, collecting, or contributing any resource or skill, we can likely put it to good use! Someone even blew us away today with his skill in packing the trucks, and we also worked with Baker Distributing to get hundreds of cases of water delivered and coordinated with Shelburne Tap House to provide hundreds of meals. If you can provide a service, there is a need.

Thanks so much again for demonstrating why we are such a special state, and how doing things the Vermont Way can turn some of our darkest moments into our finest hours as a community.

Please stay in touch,

Kesha
