Local trail groups have been controlling knotweed next to a section of the planned Bellow Falls Riverfront Trail since 2019, and we need help from community members to finish the work this year. Native plants are already starting to replace the knotweed where we have removed it! We'll dig up the plants by the roots and dispose of them nearby, to avoid spreading it.
1. When and where: this Saturday 7/15, 1:00-3:30 PM. We'll meet at the gravel parking lot at the end of Mill St. in Bellows Falls, just outside the gate of the BF Wastewater Plant (80 Mill St.). I'll be scheduling more sessions over the summer,
2. We will be digging/pulling knotweed to get the roots. Shovels will be provided.
3. What to wear: sturdy shoes or tall rubber boots, long pants, long sleeves, and gloves, for protection from ticks, (sparse) poison ivy, and a few stinging nettles. Bring water bottles.
