Abenaki Panel and Community Science at the Barge Canal

Past event
Jul 30, 2023, 4:15 to 5:30 PM

Join community members to hear from the Original Peoples of this unceded Abenaki Territory about their family history of this site, view of what is occurring, and their role as primary stakeholders in the future of this fragile, urban wild.

Bring: herbal bug spray, chairs and/or blankets to sit on, family and friends, gifts for the Abenaki, open heart, curiosity, and reverence.

Please be on time to honor the container and our panelists. Meet at 4:15 at the gate (453 Pine Street Barge Canal) across from Dealer.com where you can park or if you park at the Maltex building, walk south on Pine to the metal gate where we will guide you to the panel. Bikes can be locked to the gate. Please be timely! Wear closed toed shoes and long sleeve pants and shirt for sun, insect, and poison ivy protection.

Note: this event is after Community Science 2-4pm in which we gather ecological inventory (on the two Superfund Sites surrounding the brownfield site impending development) to support long term conservation, restoration, remediation, and rematriation aims for this fragile urban wild. There will be youth nature games simultaneously, so bring your children. Folx can then stay for the panel!!
