A "Summer of Sax" series will host guest jazz saxophone players that will be joining the New Kanon Jazz Trio this summer at Stone Valley Art's Jazz Café on July 12, August 9th and September 13 at 7pm.

July 12th - Seth Carper

Dr. Seth Carper is a saxophonist and music educator. He resides in Cazenovia, NY and teaches at Syracuse, Cornell and Mansfield universities. Seth received
his doctorate in jazz studies from the University of Texas in Austin.
He has played and recorded with many pop entertainers and jazz greats
such as David Liebman, Ruthie Foster, Christopher Cross, Maria Schneider, The Four Tops, The Temptations, The Drifters and more. He is also a classically trained musician and has performed with several orchestras in North Carolina. Don't miss this incredibly talented musician! August 9th - Zack Hampton

Zack Hampton is a well-known local jazz saxophonist and music educator.
He is the originator and band leader of the popular group Moose Crossing. Zack has an original voice with his sax with an influence from Sonny Rollins.
He has received his Master of Music from Castleton University and is a passionate music teacher in the Vermont school system. Zack has performed all over New England in some of the area's finest venues and we are pleased to have him jam with the New Kanon Jazz Trio. September 13th - David Pate

David Pate is the first call sax player in the Tampa/ Clearwater/ St. Pete area in Florida. He received his music degrees from the University of South Florida and has had an extensive, professional career playing all styles of music as well as being a music educator. The list of musicians that David has been influenced by, makes it difficult to describe his interesting and exciting approach to jazz. He utilizes extended saxophone techniques such as multiphonics, controlled overtones and circular breathing and maybe a couple of blues licks. David has produced several CD's and was a member of The Sam Rivers Jazz Orchestra. More information about David can be found @bandcamp/davidpate

The Jazz Cafe series will take place at Stone Valley Arts on every 2nd and 4th Wednesday of the months June through October. SVA invites you to come out and savor an evening with high-toned live jazz music, enjoy bar snacks and homemade desserts, BYOB. A cover/donation of $10 is suggested to help support cultural events at Stone Valley Arts

New Kanon Jazz Trio is a talented group of musicians composed by Gary Schmidt a versatile pianist and composer has concertized throughout the U.S, leads the group on the piano with clarity, adeptness and finesse. Professional bassist and educator, Ron White is well versed in jazz, rock, classical and American roots music contributing to the trio's mellow tone. Drummer Nick Aloi brings his unique swinging style, developed over the last 50 years of playing on international stages and locally throughout the New England area.
