Craftsbury Library Celebration and Recognition of the Solar Panel and Battery Backup Installation at 5 on Sunday, at the library!!
Just before the Concert on the Common.
Come and get a tour, hear the benefits of installing a solar electric system, and enjoy some sun-made goodies!
Amongst others that have helped move this project forward, there has been a lot of time and effort put in by one of Craftsbury Energy Committee's members, Vince O'Connell. Vince worked on: designing the project, ordering materials, facilitating the building permit, applying for the Certificate of Public Good, facilitating a structural engineer analysis, grant writing, wrangled with Hardwick Electric, and installed the system! (He might have even washed the windows) Thank you, Vince!!!
Besides saving money on electricity and fossil fuel, one of the big reasons for the installation was to allow the library to be self-sustaining when the grid power goes out. This will allow those households who may also be experiencing power outages to be able to come to the library and use the internet and other services.
The solar and battery backup also allows the library to potentially use less fossil fuel for heating with a Heat Pump installation planned in the near future.
We received grant funds for the project through the Craftsbury Town ARPA funds, the Climate Catalysts Innovation Fund through the VT. Council on Rural Development, and numerous private donors.
Thank you for making this happen!!!
