Meet friends and neighbors, bring your family, enjoy the scenery and get some fresh air while you enjoy the smoothest pavement in the area.
On Sunday, July 9, part of County Road will be open for bicycling, walking, pushing strollers, inline skating, and more from 9:00 am to noon. The stretch of open road will be 2.5 miles between Barnes Road and Templeton Road. Parking will be available on Templeton or Barnes or at the Morse Farm lower lot. Signs and volunteers will direct through traffic to follow the short detour to Center Road, using the same route in place during culvert construction and repaving last fall. (Those who are headed to a destination on the closed section of road will be able to access it.)
This "Open Streets" event – presented in partnership with the East Montpelier Selectboard and Recreation Committee, and Montpelier's Complete Streets Committee – will occur unless there is severe weather. Check the East Montpelier Recreation Committee Facebook page Sunday by 7:00 am for any updates: https://www.facebook.com/EastMontpelierRec
The Montpelier E-bike Lending Library will also be on hand with several electric-assist bikes and a trike to demo. You can find them at the Barnes Road intersection. Questions about this event can be sent to Nancy Schulz: SaddleShoes2@gmail.com
