"Kupalo" is the name of summer solstice celebrations in Eastern Slavic tradition— Ukraine, Russia, and Belarus. Lucky for us it is celebrated on July 6 and 7 so we are not even really late with our summer solstice ritual! We invite you to join us as we sing to and and honor and thank the sun, earth, sky, rocks, grass, trees, sheep, and wildflowers.
Flower wreath making, ancient summer solstice songs from Latvia, Lithuania, and Ukraine; Bonfire; and Honeyberry Shortcake! Tanya will demonstrate flower wreath weaving, done in Slavic traditional style with no twine. Maria and Josh will teach gorgeous traditional and a few contemporary summer solstice songs. Then we'll light a bonfire in our beautiful verdant organic apple orchard (weather permitting), sing and dance together, and eat honey berry shortcake. All ages welcome. $30/ suggested donation.
