11:00 am — @ Union Meeting Hall: Frederick Douglass Morning Reflection

Join the Friends of Union Meeting Hall and Rokeby Museum for a family-friendly morning reflection about the legacy of Douglass and his historic visit to Ferrisburgh in July, 1843. Rokeby staff will lead a short talk and community reflection activity on the site where Douglass spoke. The Friends of UMH will speak about the history of the town buildings, and the Hall will be open for touring.

1 pm — @ Rokeby Museum: Reading Frederick Douglass

Gather at Rokeby Museum for the annual public reading of "What to the Slave is the Fourth of July," delivered by Douglass in 1852 in Rochester, NY. Rokeby Museum will provide sections of the speech, and community members are asked to join the reading. No pre-registration is required. Admission to the museum is free after 1 PM.
