Join us at Richmond Free Library on August 2 at 4pm for a presentation about a lesser-known organization working to serve the home front during WWII and continuing to this day.

About the Program:
CIVIL AIR PATROL: 1942 TO TODAY
Presented by Lt. Col. Scott A. Lowe
Since 1942 Civil Air Patrol has had a tradition of serving local communities as well as assisting State and Federal agencies. From the beginning CAP has operated entirely as a volunteer organization. What began as a handful of New Jersey Pilots watching the eastern coastline for Nazi U-Boats is now 60,000 volunteer members providing Search & Rescue and disaster relief services as well as youth leadership and Aerospace Education programs.

This lecture tells the full story of Civil Air Patrol from its humble beginnings to present day, which will include how Vermont members have been serving our local communities. There will also be a sample presentation of the Aerospace Education class, "Why Air Plaines Fly." The lecture will conclude with a short introduction to CAP's Aerospace & STEM outreach program which is available to educators of all levels.
