July 4, 11 am: Old East End – Ethan Allen Monument/Greenmount Cemetery Tour

Join Jason Stuffle (Old East End) and members of Preservation Burlington as we commemorate the 150th anniversary of the dedication of the Ethan Allen Monument. We will recall the events of July 4, 1873 when ceremonies celebrated the long-delayed completion — the results of the Civil War and its aftermath — of Vermont's founding patriot's memorial column and statue, as well as the mystery behind Allen's actual burial at Greenmount. Following this stop at the Monument, Jason will lead a 45-minutes walking tour of Burlington's oldest cemetery. Finish your visit with free cookies and lemonade from Preservation Burlington.
