Have you seen the Sheldon Museum's summer exhibitions yet? There are two exciting events coming up this week-- the perfect opportunity to check them out!
On WEDNESDAY, June 28, 12-1:
"May Their Memory Be a Blessing: The Lazarus Family and Jewish Life in Addison County," Middlebury College Professor Emeritus David Rosenberg
In conjunction with the exhibition "Artists in the Archives," Prof. Rosenberg will highlight the lives of Harry and Stella Lazarus, who migrated to Middlebury in 1911 and were among the first Jewish settlers in the town. For most of the twentieth century, their Lazarus Department Store (present-day home of the National Bank of Middlebury) prospered, and the family became involved in community and civic activities. See https://www.henrysheldonmuseum.org/events to learn more!
And on THURSDAY, June 29, 1-2pm, David E. Atkinson (of Dr. Dave's Sewing Machine Hospital in Jericho) will present "Home Sewing Machines 1900 to Present, A Technician's Perspective," focusing on the evolution of sewing machines, their common components and operation, construction, repair, and DIY tips for maintenance.
