Dear Friends,
This Sunday I will present a repeat concert of works by J.S. Bach for solo violin. This time, at the remarkable Barton United Church, which feels more like a Cathedral than a small town Vermont church, and a perfect venue for this music.
Though I have explored many other avenues in music, Bach's Sonata's & Partitas always pull me back in, provoking a profound sense of astonishment and wonder. There is always more to explore and discover in these passages, and inevitably I find myself swept away; totally lost in the remarkable, unique world they contain, playing for hours on end.
In years past I've performed isolated movements in the context of a varied program. Now for the first time I'm excited to present complete works, starting with the incredibly fraught, mournful D minor Partita and ending with the bright, ebullient E major - bridged together with movements from the magnificent C major Sonata. This is a truly wonderful and exciting musical journey to embark upon, and I hope to have you there with me.
Sincerely
Roy MacNeil
